Usually, searches have an objective. More than simply collecting a large quantity of pages and comments under one or multiple spaces, and being left with a list without structure.
I propose notepads:
Have objective oriented notes, where excerpts of sites and PDFs, and comments could co-exist in an organisable manner.
I think this would solve the reason why I quit memex in the first place: it's a pain to find stuff because all things are in one or multiple bags, without clarity or intent. That's how we actually remember stuff to make use of them: from the reason and objective of searches that led to links, not by the arbitrary name of the site. That's not how my brain at least works.
Notepads should co-exist with simple excerpts, comments and such, which are the atomic level of memex. The idea is to add a layer of overarching structure where we can place links, excerpts in the right place: one place with a continuous narrative/structure where dozens of links and comments make sense together.
Notepads are companions of surfing :)
